Rare 36" tall Antique 1880s Victorian Conquistador Converted Gas Spelter Figural Lamp with Original Bronzed and Silver Finish and Original Acid Etched Scenic 5" Shade

Rare find! We have loved this lamp in the shop for a few years and he's been our guardian, mascot and occasional confidant. But all things must pass and he is no exclusion. If you are familiar with these 1800s era lamps, you know that the Conquistador was a popular theme and depicted in many forms of lighting and decorative figures. But what makes him really unique is his size. Standing 36" tall, he is much grander that similar period lamps and the details in the castings are so sharp and well defined. The pictures can speak to that. He features his original bronze, gold and silver accent finish which has aged nicely over the past 140 years. Based on his size, we suspect he was a newel post light and would have sat on a banister of a grand home. The period original 5" fitter fishbowl shade is perfect match featuring deep etched cameos. Just lovely all around. Converted and rewired.
