What a pair and perhaps the rarest early gas electric sconces we have ever had. We have attributed them to Thackera of Philadelphia based on the corkscrew arms and cast dragon heads. These were popular motifs used by Thackera in the 1880s. These date from the mid to late 1880s and were always gas and electric making them very early electric for the time. They would have originally come from a grand home as in home electricity was a luxury. Finish is original and has developed a lovely hue over the years. We have rewired them but left the center light gas (non functional) for historic purposes. Fitted with period original etched shades, rewired and CSA approved.
