What a treasure. This is a past and future family heirloom that we are proud to offer.
Handel was a high end maker of decorative lighting in the early 1900s and created the most sought after reverse painted shades of the time. The reverse painted lamps were painted by in house artisans who created beautiful landscapes and scenic paintings on the inside of the shade. Handel lamps are highly collectable for their beauty and quality.
This particular lamp has a signed Handel shade and is signed Vincent 1923. Vincent was the painter and 1923 signifies the shade number. Handel numbered most of their shades and this is an 18" one which was the largest they offered. The shade is an Autumn scene with vibrant amber, green and blue tones throughout. There are no fleabites or chips on the shade and it is flawless on the rim. The Art Nouveau base is original and is cast pot metal with a faux patina finish. Handel paired this base with many shades and it is all original. Even the sockets are original and work beautifully. True gem!
